ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING

An organizational meeting of the Janesville City Council, held at the
Municipal Building on April 21, 1998 at 7:30 a.m.
The meeting was called to order by City Clerk-Treasurer Jean Ann Wulf.
Present: Councilmembers Brien, Stehura, O'Leary, Westphal, Murphy, Noll and
Schneider.
ELECTION OF COUNCIL PRESIDENT AND VICE-PRESIDENT:
The City Clerk-Treasurer called for nominations from the floor for City
Council President. Councilmember Brien moved to nominate Councilmember
0'Leary as Council President, seconded by Councilmember Westphal. The City
Clerk-Treasurer called for any other nominations for Council President and
received none. Nominations were closed and the Council approved
Councilmember O'Leary as Council President by the following vote: Aye:
Councilmembers Brien, Stehura, Westphal, Murphy, Noll and Schneider. Pass:
Councilmember O'Leary.
Council President O'Leary called for nominations from the floor for City
Council Vice-President. Councilmember Stehura moved to elect Councilmember
Brien as Council Vice-President, seconded by Council President O'Leary.
The Council President called for any other nominations for Council Vice-
President and received none. Nominations were closed and the Council
approved Councilmember Brien as Council Vice-President by the following
vote: Aye: Council President O'Leary, Councilmembers Stehura, Westphal,
Murphy, Noll and Schneider. Pass: Councilmember Brien.
Council President O'Leary established the new seating arrangement for the
Council starting at the President's far left: Councilmembers Westphal,
Murphy, Stehura and Brien; starting from the President's far right
Councilmembers Schneider and Noll.
Council President O'Leary stated that Councilmembers should forward their
committee assignment requests to him.
There being no further business, the Council adjourned at 7:35 a.m.
These minutes are not official until approved by the City Council.
