Study Session of the City Council of the City of Janesville held in
the Municipal Building on November 13, 1997.
The meeting was called to order by Council Vice-President Brien.
Present: Council Vice-President Brien, Councilmembers O'Leary,
Stehura, Noll & Schneider. Absent: Council President Cullen,
Councilmember Westphal.
1. Review of police staffing.
Police Chief Brunner reviewed his staffing recommendations and
implementation plan report for the.Police Department with Council.
Council President Cullen and Councilmember Westphal arrived at 6:37
p.m.
Councilmember Noll requested the Administration study moving the
Water Department from its existing building and moving the Police
Department into that location. City Manager Sheiffer indicated that
such a study would require assistance of a professional
architectural firm and estimated the cost of these services at
about $3,000.00.
Councilmember Brien requested the Administration provide a schedule
of projected officer retirements.
2. Matters not on the agenda.
By consensus, Council directed the Administration to proceed with
Plan Commission review of a conditional use permit for the
locating of a communication tower at the City Services Center.
There being no further business, Qouncil adjourned at 8:48 p.m.
