06-03-96 PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Approved 6-24-96 CITY OF J~/NESVILLE, WISCONSIN STUDY SESSION June 3, 1996 VOL. 47 NO. 6 A study session of the Janesville City Council held at the City Services Building on June 3, 1996 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was called to order by Council President Schneider. Present: Council President Schneider, Councilmembers Stehura, Brien, Cullen, Noll and Westphal. Absent: Councilmember O'Leary. 1. Council reviewed the Public Works operations. Assistant City Manager Rogers reviewed the Division's organizational chart and overall operations for Public Works. City Engineer Beatty reviewed the five types of street construction, how we determine the type to be constructed and State and Federal funding used for our street programs. Councilmember O'Leary arrived at 7:30 p.m. Public Services Director Boldt discussed snow removal methods, street sweeping cycles, solid waste collection routes and water and wastewater rates. Assistant City Manager Rogers reviewed the transit system revenue sources, status of the Youth Sports Facility, downtown parking projects, total quality management and south side utility extensions. Council toured the City Services facility with staff. Councilmembers Brien and O'Leary left the meeting at approximately 61:50 p.m. 2. City Manager Sheiffer gave an overview of the City's options of siting a transit transfer center. Councilmember Noll requested information on locating the transfer center on existing City property or exploring a less expensive option. Council President Schneider asked the Administration to research the amount of Federal gas tax sent to the Federal Government from Wisconsin. 3. Matters not on the agenda. There were none.
