Study session of the Janesville City Council held at Fire Stations #1, #2, and #3.
Council President Heitzman called the meeting to order at Fire Station #I at 7:00 p.m.
Present: Council President Heitzman, Councilmembers Stehura, Brien, O'Leary, Noll and Thomas.
Absent: Councilmember Schneider.
Review of fire operations and tour of Fire Stations #1, #2, and #3.
Fire Chief Grorud presented the organizational structure and staffing levels of the Janesville Fire
Department. Deputy Chief Cunningham reviewed fire fighting duties, EMS duties and the fire
equipment assigned to each Fire Station. Fire Marshall Bier reviewed the City's Fire Prevention
Program and the types of inspections performed by Fire Department staff'.
Council toured Fire Station # 1 which included staff living quarters, the fire equipment floor and the
storage areas.
Councilmember Schneider arrived at 8:40 p. m. and Councilmember Noll left at 8:50 p.m.
Council drove to Fire Stations # 2 and #3 and toured the staff living quarters, the fire equipment
floor and the storage areas.
The Council adjourned at 9:32 p.m.
