2005-220 RESOLUTION NO. 2005-220 A resolution Recognizing Tom Stehura as a Janesville Good Citizen (File Resolution No. 2005-220) WHEREAS, Tom Stehura epitomizes a dedicated public servant and has served the citizens of Janesville in many capacities, including nineteen years as a City Council member and three years as City Council President; and WHEREAS, Tom is a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) and has held several leadership positions in this organization, including President and Board Member; and WHEREAS, Tom has a passion for educating the public on Veterans affairs and the sacrifices Janesville residents have made for our country; and WHEREAS, Tom is a member of the Janesville Patriotic Society and has served as the co-chair of the Congressional Medal of Honor Walkway committee; and WHEREAS, Tom voluntarily organized the fundraising and construction of the walkway and tirelessly worked to make sure the project was completed on time and in a way that honors the Medal of Honor recipients in our community; and WHEREAS, the Congressional Medal of Honor Walkway is a magnificent tribute to the Veterans of our country; and WHEREAS, the Congressional Medal of Honor Walkway provides many benefits to entire Janesville community, including better handicap access, additional electrical outlets and six new flag poles; and WHEREAS, the contributions, expertise and spirit of volunteerism of Tom Stehura is in the finest tradition of "Good Citizenship"; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the Common Council of the City of Janesville, on the 14th day of November 2005 that all Janesville citizens are called upon to acknowledge and thank Tom Stehura for his work and dedication to Janesville veterans and residents; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Common Council to express their appreciation to Tom Stehura for his contributions to the City of Janesville and herby recognize him as a "Janesville Good Citizen" ADOPTED: November 14, 2005 Motion by: Brunner Second by: Tim Wellnitz Councilmember Aye Nay Pass Absent Brunner X Brien X Williams X Wellnitz, Tim X Wellnitz, Tom X DeGarmo X Addie X APPROVED: I c (' J ' ,_ C, ¿ x ,) ,¡ .// Sfêven E.
