Special meeting of the City Council of the City of ~anesville held
in the Municipal Building on February 17, 2000.
The meeting was called to order by Council President Stehura.
Present: Council President Stehura, Ceuncilmembers Westphal,
Murphy, Brien, and Nell. Absent: Ceuncilmembers O=Leary and
Schneider.
Councilmember O'Leary arrived at 6:15 p.m.
1. Review alternatives for replacement of parking garage.
Council reviewed various alternatives for the parking garage
located at Wall Street and Parker Drive. Ceuncilmember Nell
requested the Administration provide an estimate of the amount
spent on downtown parking by the City in the last ten years.
Ceuncilmember Murphy requested information on the design and
drainage of a proposed at grade parking let that would replace the
existing garage. Council President Stehura and Ceuncilmember
Westphal requested the Administration place the demolition of the
existing parking garage and its replacement with an at grade
parking let on the February 28, 2000 Council meeting agenda.
2. Review of police department space study.
Police Chief Brunner escorted Council on a tour of the police
department. There was discussion on future staff size, space needs,
building design and location. The Administration will schedule a
second study session on police facilities in the summer.
3. Matters not on the Agenda.
Council President Stehura announced that the first neighborhood
meeting would be held on March 9, 2000 at Franklin Middle School.
There being no further business, Council adjourned at 8:55 p.m.
