ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING
April 17, 2001

An organizational meeting of the Janesville City Council, held at the Municipal Building on April 17,
2001 at 7:35 a.m.
The meeting was called to order by City Clerk-Treasurer dean Ann Wulf.
Councilmember Brien led the Council in the pledge of allegiance.
Present: Councilmembers Brien, Damron, DeGarmo, O'Leary, Steeber, and Williams. Absent:
Councilmember Murphy.
ELECTION OF COUNCIL PRESIDENT AND VICE-PRESIDENT:
The City Clerk-Treasurer called for nominations from the floor for City Council President.
Councilmember O'Leary moved to nominate Councilmember Brien as Council President,
seconded by Councilmember Williams. The City Clerk-Treasurer called for any other nominations
for Council President three times and received no further nominations. Nominations were closed
and Councilmember Brien was elected President by the following vote: Aye: Councilmembers
Damron, DeGarmo, O'Leary, Steeber, and Williams. Pass: Councilmember Brien.
Councilmember O'Leary moved to elect Councilmember DeGarmo as Council Vice-President,
seconded by Councilmember Wiliams. There were no other nominations. Nominations were
closed and Councilmember DeGarmo was elected Council Vice-President by the following vote:
Aye: Councilmembers Brien, Damron, O'Leary, Steeber, and Williams. Pass: Councilmember
DeGarmo.
Council President Brien established the new seating arrangement for the Council starting at the
President's far left: Councilmembers Damron, Williams, O'Leary and DeGarmo; starting from the
President's far right Councilmembers Steeber and Murphy.
City Manager Sheiffer stated that Councilmembers should forward their committee assignment
requests to Council President Brien.
There being no further business the Council adjourned at 7:39 a.m.
