2024-2211 FILE RESOLUTION NO. 2024-2211
A resolution adopting the updated Rock County All Hazards Mitigation Plan
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville recognizes the threat that natural hazards pose to
people and property; and
WHEREAS, undertaking hazard mitigation actions before disasters occur will reduce
the potential for harm to people and property and save taxpayer dollars; and
WHEREAS, an updated Hazard Mitigation Plan is required by FEMA as a condition of
future grant funding for mitigation projects; and
WHEREAS, adoption of the Rock County Hazard Mitigation Plan does not require the
City Council of the City of Janesville to provide funding to implement the Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville participated jointly in the planning process with Rock
County and the other local units of government within the County to prepare a Hazard
Mitigation Plan, which was made available for review via a Legal Notice and a copy of
which will reside permanently in the Rock County Emergency Management Office; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Janesville finds that the Rock County All
Hazards Mitigation Plan and related submissions are in the best interest of, and benefit
to, the City of Janesville and its residents and businesses.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Janesville
adopts the Rock County Hazard Mitigation Plan as an official plan; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Rock County Emergency Management Office
will submit, on behalf of the City, the Rock County Hazard Mitigation Plan to Wisconsin
Emergency Management and Federal Emergency Management Agency officials for
final review and approval. Minor changes made upon advice from Wisconsin
Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency Management Agency will not
require re-adopting this resolution.
