COMMON COUNCIL
STATE OF WISCONSIN ROCK COUNTY CITY OF JANESVILLE
In the Matter of a Relocation Order RELOCATION ORDER
To Acquire Property in a Blighted Area District
WHEREAS, one of the functions of the Common Council for the City of Janesville ("City")
is to carry out blight elimination, slum clearance, urban renewal programs and housing projects;
and
WHEREAS, the City has statutory authority to acquire property for blight elimination
purposes pursuant to Wis. Stat. §§ 32.05(1), 66.1333(5), 66.1335(4) and 66.1105; and
WHEREAS, the City has determined that the properties listed in Exhibit A, attached hereto,
and incorporated herein, are required to be acquired to implement the Project Plan of TID 42 and
to eliminate blight; and
WHEREAS, the City will acquire the properties listed in Exhibit A for the purposes of
blight elimination; and
WHEREAS, City hereby adopts a Relocation Order to list all of the properties to be
acquired; and
WHEREAS, the statutory eminent domain process has a number of protections for
landowners, which will be put in place by adoption of this Relocation Order.
NOW THEREFORE, the City hereby makes the following findings and orders, pursuant
to Wis. Stat. § 32.05(1):
1. That it is necessary to eliminate blight by the acquisition of the properties listed in
Exhibit A.
2. That it is necessary and a public purpose to acquire the properties listed in Exhibit
A.
3. That the interest in the Property shall be acquired in the name of the City and, upon
acquisition, shall be cleared and held for the purpose of eliminating a blighted area
pursuant to Wisconsin law.
PASSED AND APPROVED, this 26th day of February 2024 by the Common Council of the
City of Janesville, Rock County, Wisconsin.
A copy of this Relocation Order shall be filed with the County Clerk within 20 days.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Administration is hereby authorized to take whatever
additional actions and decisions it deems necessary and/or desirable to effectuate this Release
and the intent of the Common Council.
