A Resolution Releasing a Historic Conservation Easement Restriction for the
Hugunin Home.
WHEREAS, The City of Janesville ("City") is the owner of record title to the Property
known as the Hugunin Home, which is legally described as:
Lot 2 of a Certified Survey Map recorded on February 28, 2012 in Volume 35 of
Certified Survey Maps, Pages 20 through 23 as Document No. 1940951, being part of
Lot 1 of a Certified Survey Map as recorded in Volume 22, Pages 334 thru 336 of
Certified Survey Maps of Rock County, Wisconsin, as Document No. 1426439 being
located in the NW 1/4 of the NW 1/4 and in the SW 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of Section 18.
T.2N., R13E., of the 4th P.M., City of Janesville, Rock County, Wisconsin; and
WHEREAS, the Tax Parcel ID Number new as of 2012 for this Property is 0318100032,
f/k/a, Pt. 0318100500; and,
WHEREAS, the Historic Conservation Easement was recorded with the Rock County
Register of Deeds Office as Document 1941749 on the 6th day of March, 2012 at 11:46
a.m.; and,
WHEREAS, the Property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places; and,
WHEREAS, the historic conservation protection is no longer necessary as the Property
will be put to other legitimate purposes and uses, while still preserving the historic
characteristic by the placement of a sign/historical marker consistent with the historic
conservation regulations; and,
WHEREAS, the Janesville Plan Commission reviewed and approved the release of the
Historic Conservation Easement at their meeting on the 2nd day of October, 2023; and,
WHEREAS, the Common Council approves this release consistent with the long-term
development goals of the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL of the City of
Janesville that they hereby resolve as follows:
1. Each and every of the above recitals is hereby reiterated and incorporated herein
as if fully set forth verbatim; and,
2. The Historic Conservation Easement is hereby released in full; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Administration is hereby authorized to take
whatever additional actions and decisions it deems necessary and/or desirable to
effectuate this Release and the intent of the Common Council.
