An Ordinance creating Section 1-21(d) to collect a fee for duplicate permits and licenses as
requested
Whereas, the City of Janesville issues many permits and licenses among various departments; and
Whereas,from time to time, customers request a duplicate copy of the license or permit due to damage,
loss, or other reasons. This requires additional staff time and resources outside of the usual and
customary time required to issue the original permit or license; and
Whereas the following section will be added to allow for the recovery of a fee as set in the Fee Schedule
starting at $10 to replace any City of Janesville license or permit with a duplicate:
THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JANESVILLE DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. Section 1-21(d) of the Code of General Ordinances of the City of Janesville is hereby
created to read as follows:
"Section 1-21 (d) Except where otherwise provided, the fee for a duplicate copy of any license or permit
issued through the City shall be collected in the amount as from time to time set by the City Council
and listed in the Fee Schedule. The requestor shall be required to provide proof of identity as the permit
or license holder before a duplicate is provided."
Now therefore be it resolved that the City Council, acting as the governing body hereby adopt this
section 121(d) that establishes a fee for providing duplicate copies of permits and licenses as included
in the Fee Schedule; and
Be it further resolved that City of Janesville staff members who issue permits and/or licenses on
behalf of the City within their official capacity shall begin collecting the fee when this Ordinance is
enacted and shall follow the requirements and duties set forth in this Ordinance.
