2023-866 ORDINANCE NO. 2023-866 An ordinance amending Sections 28-106 and 28-109 of the Sign Code, with penalties for violations thereof, together with injunctive relief, as set forth in JGO 28-342 THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JANESVILLE DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. Section 28-106 of the Code of General Ordinances of the City of Janesville is hereby amended to read as follows: Sec. 28-106. - License—Required. Examination (a) No person, firm, or corporation shall engage in erecting, removing, or servicing signs, as defined by this chapter, without first obtaining a sign erector's license. OEtebcr. (b) Only one license per firm is required. Such license may be issued in the name of the applicant or the firm which employs the applicant. If the license is issued in the name of the firm, such firm shall notify the City immediately if the applicant is no longer employed by such firm. Both the firm and the applicant shall be responsible for compliance with the ordinances and for all activities performed pursuant to such license. SECTION II. Section 28-109 of the Code of General Ordinances of the City of Janesville is hereby amended to read as follows: Sec. 28-109. - Expiration date; renewal. Every sign erector's license shall expire on June 30 following the date of its issue and may be renewed for one year upon payment to the City Clerk-Treasurer of the license fee not later than June 30 in the year in which the license expires. Should any person fail to renew his or her license by June 30 of the year in which such license expires, he or she will be required to make application for and take the examination for a new license in the same manner as a new applicant. The City Council is authorized to renew a sign erector's license for any qualified applicant.
