2023-2104 FILE RESOLUTION NO. 2023-2104
A resolution recognizing March 29, 2023 as National Vietnam War Veterans Day in
the City of Janesville.
WHEREAS, since 2017, March 29, 2023 has been recognized as a day of observance
by the United States of America as the National Vietnam War Veterans Day; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville commemorates and honors those who fought in the
Vietnam War, which was one of the longest wars in United States history, lasting almost
twenty years; and,
WHEREAS, this day was the day the last U.S. combat troops left Vietnam, as well as
being within the same timeframe in which Hanoi released the last of its acknowledged
prisoners of war; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville and the Janesville Chapter of the Daughters of the
American Revolution salute and recognize the courage and sacrifice of Vietnam War
Veterans.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of
Janesville does hereby recognize Wednesday, March 29, 2023 as National Vietnam
War Veterans Day in the City of Janesville and encourages all businesses and
community members to recognize the significance of this day observance and thank
those who served and sacrificed so much in the Vietnam War.
