2023-2070 RESOLUTION NO. 2023-2070
A resolution recognizing Suzann M. North for her employment at the City of Janesville.
WHEREAS, Suzann M. North retired from City of Janesville employment after having diligently
served the people of the City of Janesville and the community for 33 years; retiring as a Fire
Marshal with the Janesville Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, during Suzann M. North's employment with the City of Janesville, she provided
exemplary professional service and demonstrated conscientious devotion to the duties of her
position, which she performed with skill, ability, sincerity, honesty, and dedication; and
WHEREAS, Suzann M. North began her employment with the City of Janesville as a
Firefighter/EMT in October, 1989; and was the first female firefighter employed by the
Janesville Fire Department.
WHEREAS, in the course of her employment, she had a variety of assignments, including
Firefighter, EMT, Driver, Dive Team member, Civilian Inspector, and Fire Marshal; she was
one of the founding members of the Janesville Fire Explorer Post 555 and a part of the
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee, and
WHEREAS, Suzann M. North received the Fire Department's Employee of the Year Award in
1997, the Public Safety Employee of the Year Award in 2016, and
WHEREAS, it is desired that such commendable service to the City of Janesville be properly
recognized;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the people of the City of Janesville, through the
City Council, do express their grateful appreciation to Suzann M. North for her thirty-three
years of loyal public service.
