2022-2036 RESOLUTION NO. 2022-2036
A Resolution approving the proposed tentative 2022 Labor Agreement by and
between the City of Janesville and Firefighters Local Number 580
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville, Wisconsin, is a home-rule city incorporated under and
operating under the Constitution and laws of the State of Wisconsin, Chapter 64 of the
Wisconsin Statutes, and a certain Charter Ordinance specific for Janesville; and
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville is a collective bargaining city and unit of government
under Chapter 111.70, Subchapter IV, of the Wisconsin Statutes; and
WHEREAS, the existing and operative 2021 Labor Agreement between the City of
Janesville and Firefighters Local No. 580 expired on December 31, 2021; and
WHEREAS, the City and Firefighters Local No. 580 have been engaged in the good faith
collective bargaining process for a successor Labor Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the City and Firefighters Local No. 580 have reached a tentative agreement
to the terms of a successor 2022 Labor Agreement, a true and correct photocopy of which
is attached hereto, reiterated, and incorporated herein by reference as if fully set forth
verbatim [with the changes between the prior and current firefighters labor agreements
highlighted], which tentative labor agreement was ratified by the membership of
Firefighters Local No. 580 on August 1, 2022; and
WHEREAS, the proposed tentative successor agreement is recommended by the City
Administration for Common Council approval, hereby finding it in the City's best interests
and of benefit to the community and taxpayers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Janesville
that they hereby approve the attached proposed tentative 2022 Labor Agreement by and
between the City of Janesville and Firefighters Local No. 580; and further direct the City
Administration to execute same and implement the Agreement's terms, conditions, and
provisions on behalf of the City of Janesville and Common Council. Furthermore, the
Common Council hereby empower the City Manager and his designee(s) from time to
time and at any time, to draft, negotiate, and agree to whatever minor language changes,
terms, and conditions to this Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) that he and/or they
deem desirable and/or appropriate without the necessity for additional Council review or
action.
