2022-2020 RESOLUTION NO. 2022-2020
A resolution recognizing the Heartart Committee for its role in improving the
community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
WHEREAS, the COVID-19 pandemic caused an international crisis that resulted in mass
physical, emotional, and economic distress, which continues to have far-reaching
negative consequences for all humans; and
WHEREAS, in 2020 the Heartart Committee undertook to create and display messages
of kindness and encouragement throughout the community; and
WHEREAS, all of the art materials were donated by the community through monetary
and in-kind donations; and
WHEREAS, more than 100 pieces of Heartart were created; and
WHEREAS, these messages are displayed on hand-cut and hand-painted hearts
designed to foster love, hope, and a sense of community to those that view them; and
WHEREAS, these messages remind us of essential workers and helpers that responded
to COVID-19 and those that we lost to COVID-19, and that together we can and will
overcome this difficult trial; and
WHEREAS, messages of kindness and encouragement positively impact the person
offering it and the person receiving it; and
WHEREAS, kindness and encouragement also create feelings of well-being and trust;
and
WHEREAS, it is desired that such thoughtful and compassionate service to the
community be properly recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the people of the City of Janesville, through
the City Council, do express their grateful appreciation to the Heartart Committee for its
role in improving the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
