2022-1988 RESOLUTION NO. 2022-1988
A resolution recognizing Dennis J. LeCaptain for his employment at the City of
Janesville.
WHEREAS, Dennis J. LeCaptain retired from City of Janesville employment after
having diligently served the people of the City of Janesville and the community for 30
years; retiring as a Police Detective with the Janesville Police Department; and
WHEREAS, during Dennis J. LeCaptain's employment with the City of Janesville, he
provided exemplary professional service and demonstrated conscientious devotion to
the duties of his position, which he performed with skill, ability, sincerity, honesty, and
dedication; and
WHEREAS, Dennis J. LeCaptain began his employment with the City of Janesville as a
Police Officer in January 1992; and
WHEREAS, in the course of his employment, he had a variety of assignments, including
first and third shift Patrol Officer, Range Officer, Field Training Officer, and Emergency
Response Team (ERT); he was promoted to Detective and assigned to second shift
then first shift, served on the Advisory Training Committee and the Commendation
Committee, was a member of the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), served as
union president of the Janesville Professional Police Association, and served as union
president of the Wisconsin Professional Police Association; and
WHEREAS, Dennis J. LeCaptain received an Exemplary Service Citation in 2007 and a
Chief's Letter of Commendation in 2007, was recognized as the recipient of the Mighty
Oak in September 2019, and was named the Police Officer of the Year for 2021; and
WHEREAS, it is desired that such commendable service to the City of Janesville be
properly recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the people of the City of Janesville,
through the City Council, do express their grateful appreciation to Dennis J. LeCaptain
for his thirty years of loyal public service.
