2022-1971 RESOLUTION NO. 2022-1971 A resolution recognizing Michael L. Bachmeyer for his employment at the City of Janesville. WHEREAS, Michael L. Bachmeyer retired from City of Janesville employment after having diligently served the people of the City of Janesville and the community for more than 10 years; retiring as the Assistant Transit Director with the Janesville Transit System following service as a part-time Bus Driver and full-time Bus Driver; and WHEREAS, during Michael L. Bachmeyer's employment with the City of Janesville, he provided exemplary professional service and demonstrated conscientious devotion to the duties of his position, which he performed with skill, ability, sincerity, honesty, and dedication; and WHEREAS, Michael L. Bachmeyer served on the COJ Health Advisory Committee, EOC Planning Section, Pandemic Contact Tracer Work Group, Rock County Transportation Coordinating Committee, JTS Safety Team, and JTS Hiring Advisory Committee, and demonstrated his flexibility and sound judgement through his participation; and WHEREAS, Michael L. Bachmeyer was an integral member of the JTS team that designed the Gillig fleet of City buses to ensure utmost efficiency in onboard operations while providing a safe and high quality rider experience; and WHEREAS, Michael L. Bachmeyer implemented many improvements at JTS, including bus stop-only transit service, the automatic vehicle location project, installation of driver barriers, the transition of eighteen vehicles into the fleet, and numerous mitigation strategies concerning the pandemic; and WHEREAS, Michael L. Bachmeyer's calm demeanor, customer service-oriented decision making, operational expertise, innovative problem solving, and focus on safety fostered an environment of trust and respect within the staff of the Janesville Transit System and with its customers; and WHEREAS, it is desired that such commendable service to the City of Janesville be properly recognized. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the people of the City of Janesville, through the City Council, do express their grateful appreciation to Michael L. Bachmeyer for his more than ten years of loyal public service. Dated this 14th day of February, 2022.
