2022-1967 RESOLUTION NO. 2022-1967
A resolution authorizing the City Administration to expend funds to purchase a
Sanitary Landfill compactor.
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works is responsible for operating the Sanitary
Landfill, which provides waste disposal service for residential, commercial, demolition,
and industrial waste generators; and
WHEREAS, having a reliable and functional fleet of vehicles is necessary to ensure safe
and efficient operations at the Sanitary Landfill; and
WHEREAS, the City's 2022 Vehicle Operation and Maintenance Equipment
Replacement Schedule and Sanitation Fund budget include replacement of a compactor
for use in the Sanitary Landfill; and
WHEREAS, the City budgeted to utilize the issuance of debt in the Sanitation Fund to
fund the 2022 compactor replacement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Janesville
that they hereby approve and authorize the City to expend funds not to exceed $963,000
for the purchase of a Sanitary Landfill compactor; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Common Council that this authorization commits
the Common Council to include up to $963,000 in the 2022 tax-exempt obligation
promissory note issue for this purpose as permitted by the Internal Revenue Code of
1986. This declaration of official intent is consistent with the budgetary and financial
circumstances of the City. The purpose of this Resolution is to satisfy the "official intent"
requirement of the Treasury Regulation Section 1.150-2.
