2021-1890 RESOLUTION NO. 2021-1890
A resolution authorizing the City Administration to expend funds to purchase two
solid waste collection vehicles.
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works is responsible for the efficient and effective
collection of waste and recyclable materials from residences in the City of Janesville;
and
WHEREAS, having a reliable and functional fleet of collection vehicles is necessary to
ensure waste and recyclables are collected; and
WHEREAS, the City's 2021 Vehicle Operation and Maintenance Equipment
Replacement Schedule includes the replacement of two (2) automated waste collection
vehicles, which have reached the end of their expected life; and
WHEREAS, the City utilizes the issuance of debt in the Sanitation Fund to fund the
replacement of automated waste collection vehicles.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of
Janesville that they hereby approve and authorize the City to expend funds not to
exceed $642,000 for the purchase of two (2) waste collection vehicles; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Common Council that this authorization commits
the Common Council to include up to $642,000 in the 2021 tax-exempt obligation
promissory note issue for this purpose as permitted by the Internal Revenue Code of
1986. This declaration of official intent is consistent with the budgetary and financial
circumstances of the City. The purpose of this Resolution is to satisfy the "official intent"
requirement of the Treasury Regulation Section 1.150-2.
