2021-1896 RESOLUTION NO. 2021-1896
A resolution recognizing the Week of May 16 - 22, 2021 as
Emergency Medical Services Week in the City of Janesville.
WHEREAS, Emergency Medical Services is a vital public service; and
WHEREAS, the members of the City of Janesville Fire Department provide day-to-day
Advanced Life Support Emergency Medical Services care to those in need in all conditions; and
WHEREAS, the access to quality Advanced Life Support emergency care dramatically
improves the survival and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Janesville Fire Department remain committed to high-quality
care despite COVID-19 and continuously care for our community; and
WHEREAS, Janesville Fire Department has gone above and beyond responding to medical
emergencies during the pandemic; and
WHEREAS, the Janesville Fire Department works greatly to advance the safety and overall
well-being of the community; and
WHEREAS, the emergency medical technicians and paramedics are the first responders of the
emergency medical services system; and
WHEREAS, the Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics are cross-trained to respond
to Hazardous Materials, Tactical and Technical Rescue emergencies; and
WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams engage in thousands of hours
of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their lifesaving skills; and
WHEREAS, the Janesville Fire Department cared for 7,652 patients and experienced 15,824
responses in 2020; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the value and the accomplishments of Emergency
Medical Services providers in the City of Janesville by designating Emergency Medical Services
Week.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Janesville
on this 10'h day of May 2021, that the week of May 16th to May 22nd be observed as
"Emergency Medical Services Week", and call upon all Janesville citizens to especially honor
and show our appreciation for the City of Janesville Fire Department EMTs and Paramedics by
deed, remark, and attitude.
