2021-1877 RESOLUTION NO. 2021-1877
A resolution recognizing Jim Farrell for his loyal and conscientious service to the
City of Janesville as a City Councilmember.
WHEREAS, Jim Farrell served the City of Janesville from 2012 to 2016 and 2017 to 2021 as a member of the
City Council; and
WHEREAS, during his terms in office, Mr. Farrell served as a member of the Audit Committee, Janesville
Metropolitan Planning Organization Policy Board, Hedberg Public Library Board, Community Development
Authority, Janesville Innovation Center Board, Sustainable Janesville Committee, Leisure Services Advisory
Committee (now known as the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee), and Downtown Development
Alliance (now known as Downtown Janesville, Inc.); and
WHEREAS, during his second term, the City Council accomplished many significant achievements, including
the completion of the Town Square, Festival Street, and Fitness Court; construction of two new hotels;
securing grant funding for the replacement of all 17 JTS buses; execution of an intergovernmental agreement
with the City of Milton for shared fire services; removal of the Monterey Dam and restoration of the Monterey
area; completion of Hedberg Public Library's Transform Your Library renovation project; an increase in housing
availability; the creation of overnight homeless parking; and guidance through the COVID-19 pandemic; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Farrell's experience, attention to detail, and care for the community and its citizens
characterized his tenure in office throughout; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Farrell performed the duties of a member of the City Council with an exemplary level of
dedication, honesty, and integrity;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Janesville presents this
commendation to Jim Farrell in sincere appreciation for his loyal and conscientious service to the City of
Janesville.
