An ordinance amending the regulations for use of the City of Janesville bike trail with penalties
as set forth in JGO Sec. 26-40.
THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JANESVILLE DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. Sec. 26-22 of the Code of General ordinances of the City of Janesville is hereby
amended to read as follows:
Sec. 26-22. - Pets prohibited.
(a) No person being the owner or having possession, custody or control of any dog or cat shall permit
the same to be in any park or city golf course from May 15 to September 15 each year, or in any
playground or school ground at any time. This regulation applies whether the pet is running at large
or is on a leash, or otherwise under the control of any person. This regulation is in addition to all
other regulations relating to dogs. Exempt from the prohibitions in this section are service animals
that are required to be accommodated by the Americans with Disabilities Act, and law enforcement
dogs used in official police business, and the bike trail extending from W. Rotamer Ct. to the trail
connection on E. Rotamer Rd.
(b) The riding or leading of beasts of burden upon public property, except streets, that have not been
specifically provided for such purpose, is prohibited.
(c) Dogs and cats may be present, throughout the year but only during such hours that the park is
lawfully open to the public, in those specifically signed "Pet Exercise/Training Areas"which the Parks
Director, from time to time, so designates with Council approval. Dogs and cats permitted in such
areas shall, at all times, be under the effective control of the owner/possessor, but no leash is
required.
