RESOLUTION # 2005-193
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO ACQUIRE PROPERTY AT 273 S. RIVER STREET
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville has negotiated an offer to purchase the Olin
Paint Company property at 273 S. River Street in the amount of $72,500; and
WHEREAS, the State of Wisconsin has approved a relocation payment of
$20,000 in accordance with Wisconsin Relocation Law, 32.185 to 32.27, Wisconsin
Statutes; and
WHEREAS, the Janesville Plan Commission has reviewed this proposed
acquisition and found it consistent with the City's long range plans and with the
Janesville Riverfront Strategy; and
WHEREAS, funding for this acquisition is provided by a 100% grant from the
Janesville Foundation Inc., and
WHEREAS, the acquisition of this property is in the best interest of the City and
of benefit to the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of
Janesville that they hereby authorize the City Manager and/or his designee to purchase
such property from Richard and Hildred Olin on behalf of the City as the City Manager
may deem necessary or desirable to effectuate the intent of this resolution; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Janesville shall comply with all
State and Federal rules for this program, may perform force account work, will maintain
the completed project in an attractive, inviting and safe manner, will keep the facility
open to the general public during reasonable hours consistent with the type of facility;
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager and/or his designee may
from time to time, negotiate, draft, amend, execute and enter into such changes and
other documents to the property acquisition documents, contracts and agreements, and
take such other action as the City Manager may deem necessary or desirable to
effectuate the intent of this resolution.
