2020-1795 RESOLUTION NO. 2020 — 1795
WHEREAS, Ronald Sagen retired from City of Janesville employment after having
diligently served the people of the City of Janesville and the community for more than
24, retiring as a Lieutenant with the Janesville Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, during Ronald Sagen's employment, he provided exemplary professional
service and demonstrated conscientious devotion to the duties of his position, which he
performed with skill and ability, sincerity, honesty, and dedication; and
WHEREAS, Ronald Sagen began his employment with the City as a Firefighter /
Paramedic with the Janesville Fire Department on May 13, 1996; and
WHEREAS, Ronald Sagen was involved in a variety of assignments during his career
including Firefighter, Paramedic, Preceptor, Department Instructor, Driver, and
Lieutenant; and
WHEREAS, Ronald Sagen was a charter member and Team Leader of the
Department's Hazardous Materials Team, which has grown significantly under his
leadership in knowledge, capabilities and equipment resources, through training,
relationship building with local businesses, and grant procurement; and
WHEREAS, Ronald Sagen served as the Liaison for the Department Hazmat Team, as
part of the State of Wisconsin Hazardous Materials Response Team; and
WHEREAS, Ronald Sagen served as Vice-Chairman on the Rock County LEPC
Committee and assisted with plan review, exercise design, and outreach activities; and
WHEREAS, Ronald Sagen received the VFW Firefighter of the Year in 2008 and was
awarded the Mighty Oak Award in 2018; and
WHEREAS, it is desired that such commendable service to the City of Janesville be
properly recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the people of the City of Janesville,
through the City Council, do express their grateful appreciation to Ronald Sagen for his
more than twenty-four years of loyal public service.
