2020-1756 RESOLUTION NO. 2020 — 1756 Whereas, Robert Gabbey retired from City of Janesville employment after having diligently served the people of the City of Janesville and the community for more than 23 years, retiring as a Fire Captain with the Janesville Fire Department; and Whereas, during Robert Gabbey's employment with the City, he provided exemplary professional service and demonstrated conscientious devotion to the duties of his position, which he performed with skill and ability, sincerity, honesty, and dedication; and Whereas, Robert Gabbey began his employment with the City as a Firefighter/Paramedic with the Janesville Fire Department on April 7, 1997; and Whereas, Robert Gabbey was involved in a variety of assignments during his career including Firefighter, Driver, Lieutenant, and Captain; and Whereas, Robert Gabbey was a member of the JFD Technical Rescue Team, the Rock County Hazardous Materials Team, the Wisconsin Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue Team, the Hazmat Advisory Committee, a Certified MSA C.A.R.E Technician responsible for maintaining all department breathing apparatus, Chair of the JFD Training Committee and a member for over 15 years, and Lead Trainer for the Recruit Training Program since 2013; and Whereas, Robert Gabbey's many roles in the training of others has helped create a solid foundation for new fire recruits and contribute to the professionalism and growth of the organization as a whole; and Whereas, during the course of his service, Robert Gabbey served at such notable emergency events to include deployments to; Hurricane Katrina, Cambria, WI Mill Explosion, and floods in southwestern Wisconsin; and Whereas, Robert Gabbey was recognized as the 2004 VFW Firefighter of the Year and the 2004 Fire Department Employee of the Year; and Whereas, it is desired that such commendable service to the City of Janesville be properly recognized; Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved that the people of the City of Janesville, through the City Council, do express their grateful appreciation to Robert Gabbey for his more than 23 years of loyal public service.
