ORDINANCE NO. 2005-279
An ordinance amending the penalty amount charged by the City of Janesville
upon failure to obtain permit prior to commencement of construction in Chapter
15 of the Code of General Ordinances of the City of Janesville, with a penalty,
injunctive and other relief for violations thereof as set forth in the Janesville
General Ordinance Chapter 15.80.
THE COMMON COUNCil OF THE CITY OF JANESVlllE DO ORDAIN AS
FOllOWS:

SECTION 1. Section 15.~140.viii of the Code of General Ordinances of the
City of Janesville (Building Code) is hereby amended as follows:
VIII. Failure to obtain a permit prior to commencement of work will result in
penalty of $100 or double the permit fee, whichever is greater, but in no
event shall the penalty exceed $2,000. Such penalty shall be paid in
addition to the customary permit fee.
SECTION II. This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon adoption by the
Common Council.
