2020-1723 RESOLUTION NO. 2020 — 1723
Whereas, John L Petersen is retiring from City of Janesville employment after having
diligently served the people of the City of Janesville and the community for 23 years,
retiring as a Transit Maintenance Supervisor with the Janesville Transit System; and
Whereas, during John Petersen's employment with the City of Janesville, he provided
exemplary professional service and demonstrated conscientious devotion to the duties
of his position, which he performed with skill and ability, sincerity, honesty, and
dedication; and
Whereas, John Petersen began his employment with the City of Janesville as a
Maintenance Foreman with the Janesville Transit System; and
Whereas, John Petersen was instrumental to the process of procuring each series of
replacement buses in 2002, 2006, and 2018; and
Whereas, John Petersen used his expertise in vehicle maintenance and attention to
detail to ensure service operated seamlessly every day for the riders of the Janesville
Transit System; and
Whereas, John Petersen used his knowledge of facility maintenance to contribute
significantly to the construction of the Transit Service Center through his role as a
member of the Building Committee; and
Whereas, John Petersen was the Transit Employee of the Year in 2007; and
Whereas, John Petersen was an engaged and committed member of the Wisconsin
Public Transportation Association, having volunteered with the Maintenance Committee
and served as a resource to maintenance professionals throughout his tenure at
Janesville Transit; and
Whereas, it is desired that such commendable service to the City of Janesville be
properly recognized;
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved that the people of the City of Janesville, through the
City Council, do express their grateful appreciation to John Petersen for his 23 years of
loyal public service.
