Minutes 04-19-05.doc PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF JANESVILLE, WISCONSIN ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING Approved: April 25, 2005 April 19, 2005 VOL. 56 NO. 1 An organizational meeting of the Janesville City Council, held at the Municipal Building on April 19, 2005, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting was called to order by City Clerk-Treasurer Jean Ann Wulf. Councilmember Brien led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance. Present: Councilmembers Addie, Brien, Brunner, DeGarmo, Tim Wellnitz, Tom Wellnitz and Williams. ELECTION OF COUNCIL PRESIDENT AND VICE-PRESIDENT: The City Clerk-Treasurer called for nominations from the floor for City Council President. Councilmember Addie moved to nominate Councilmember Tom Wellnitz as Council President, seconded by Councilmember DeGarmo. The City Clerk-Treasurer called for any other nominations three times and received no further nominations. Nominations were closed and Councilmember Tom Wellnitz was elected President by a unanimous vote. Council President Tom Wellnitz called for nominations from the floor for City Council Vice-President. Councilmember Brien moved to nominate Councilmember Tim Wellnitz as Council Vice- President, seconded by Councilmember DeGarmo. The Council President called for any other nominations three times and received no further nominations. Nominations were closed and Councilmember Tim Wellnitz was elected Vice-President by the following vote: Aye: Councilmembers Brien, Brunner, DeGarmo, Tim Wellnitz, Tom Wellnitz and Williams. Nay: Councilmember Addie. Council President Wellnitz established the new seating arrangement for the Council starting at the President’s far left: Councilmembers Brunner, Brien, Williams, and Tim Wellnitz; starting from the President’s far right: Councilmembers Addie and DeGarmo. Matters not on the Agenda. Councilmember Brien suggested that the Administration explore economic development strategies with Alliant Energy.
