RESOLUTION # 2005-131
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO ACQUIRE PROPERTY AT 907 S. JACKSON STREET
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville has negotiated an offer to purchase the Allen
Kitchen property at 907 S. Jackson Street in the amount of $150,000; and
WHEREAS, the Janesville Plan Commission has reviewed this proposed
acquisition and found it to be consistent with long range City plans; and
WHEREAS, funding for this acquisition is provided by a 50% grant from the
Janesville Foundation, Inc., and a 50% grant from Community Development Block
Grant Funds; and
WHEREAS, this acquisition is consistent with the Janesville Riverfront Strategy
and is in the best interest of the City and of benefit to the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of
Janesville that they hereby authorize the City Manager and/or his designee to purchase
such property from Gary and Laura Allen on behalf of the City as the City Manager may
deem necessary or desirable to effectuate the intent of this resolution; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Janesville shall comply with all of
the Federal rules for this program, may perform force account work, will maintain the
completed project in an attractive, inviting and safe manner, will keep the facility open to
the general public during reasonable hours consistent with the type of facility; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager and/or his designee may
from time to time, negotiate, draft, amend, execute and enter into such changes and
other documents to the property acquisition documents, contracts and agreements, and
take such other action as the City Manager may deem necessary or desirable to
effectuate the intent of this resolution.
