CITY OF JANESVILLE
RESOLUTION NO. 2004-125
A Resolution Authorizing a Project Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation for Improvements to the East Memorial Drive Bridge and Approaches in the
City of Janesville.
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Janesville recognizes the need to improve the
East Memorial Drive Bridge over North Parker Drive (USH 51) to eliminate deteriorating
conditions and high maintenance costs, and to improve traffic safety; and
WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation has scheduled the rehabilitation of
the East Memorial Drive Bridge in 2005 at an estimated cost of $901,000; and
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville's share of construction and design is now estimated to total
$180,200; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Janesville find that this public project and
funding are in the best interest of the City of Janesville and benefit to the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Janesville
that the City Manager be authorized to execute a Project Agreement with the Wisconsin
Department of Transportation and take any other action as may be necessary to implement and
complete the rehabilitation of said East Memorial Drive Bridge and approaches; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager and his designee(s), on behalf of the
City of Janesville, is/are hereby authorized and empowered to negotiate, draft, modify, review,
execute, and enter into additional agreements, payments, and record, file and/or make minor
modifications and/or amendments to any and all documents, papers, forms, and agreements,
and to take whatever other actions as the City Manager may determine, from time to time and
at any time, necessary and/or desirable to effectuate the intent of this Resolution and/or project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Common Council intends to fund the City's share of
this project.
