2019-1679 Resolution No. 2019-1679
A resolution creating and appointing a Complete Count Committee for the
2020 Decennial Census in the City of Janesville.
WHEREAS, in 2020, the Decennial Census will be conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau as required by the
Constitution of the United States; and
WHEREAS, U.S. Census data is used to draw federal and state legislative districts; and
WHEREAS, U.S. Census data is used to allocate federal funds in excess of $675 billion annually; and
WHEREAS, it is vital to the City of Janesville for legislative representation and federal funding that all City
residents be counted; and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Census Bureau relies on the partnership of local governments to perform the Decennial
Census; and
WHEREAS, a Complete Count Committee will help ensure all residents of the City, especially undercounted
populations, are counted in the census; and
WHEREAS, a Complete Count Committee needs to be created and appointed until the Decennial Census is
completed in 2020;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Janesville City Council on this 8th day of July 2019,
that the Complete Count Committee for the 2020 Decennial Census is created and the following individuals
appointed to the committee: Michael Bell, Mary Buelow, Cecilia Dever, Silvia Donda-Sclensk, David Godek,
Amy Sheridan, John Solis, and Jennifer Thompson. This committee shall disband upon completion of the 2020
Decennial Census.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is empowered to make additional or replacement
appointments to the Complete Count Committee as may be necessary for the committee to perform its work.
