2019-758 ORDINANCE NO. 2019-758
An ordinance annexing territory located in Section 5, T.2N., R.13E. of the 4th P.M.,
La Prairie Township, Rock County, Wisconsin.
WHEREAS, a petition signed by the owners of one-half of the land within such territory
proposed to be annexed has been filed with the City Clerk-Treasurer; and
WHEREAS, there are no electors residing in the territory; and
WHEREAS, the necessary notices have been duly prepared, provided and served as required
by law to all persons affected; and
WHEREAS, this ordinance does not contain temporary zoning; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Administration has not found the proposed annexation to be
against the public interest; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council has determined that this annexation is in the public interest.
NOW THEREFORE THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JANESVILLE DO ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The territory described as follows is hereby attached to the City of Janesville.
PART OF THE NW 1/4 OF THE NW 1/4 AND PART OF THE NE 1/4 OF THE NW 1/4 OF
SECTION 5, T.2N., R.13E., OF THE 4TH P.M., TOWN OF LAPRAIRIE, ROCK COUNTY,
WISCONSIN. ALSO A CERTIFIED SURVEY MAP RECORDED IN VOLUME 10, PAGE 120
OF CERTIFIED SURVEY MAPS OF ROCK COUNTY, WISCONSIN, AS DOCUMENT
NO.932498 AND LOCATED IN THE SW '/4 OF THE NW 1/4 OF SECTION 5, T.2N., R.13E. OF
THE 4TH P.M., TOWN OF LA PRAIRIE, ROCK COUNTY, WISCONSIN.
DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS: Beginning at the NW Corner of said Section; thence S88°30'32"E
along the North Line of the NW 1/4 of said Section, 270.11 feet to the SW Line of a Certified
Survey Map recorded in Volume 37, Pages 390 thru 393; thence S19°49'36"E along said SW
Line 330.91 feet; thence S50°03'E continuing along said SW Line 359.25 feet to the SE Line of
said Certified Survey Map; thence N39°56'54"E along said SE Line, 679.0 feet to the said North
Line of the NW 1/4; thence S88°30'32"E along said North Line, 194.61 feet: thence S50°03'55"E
196.83 feet; thence S39°56'41"W 176.43 feet; thence S1°29'26"W 1131.18 feet to the South
Line of the North 1/2 of the NW 1/4 of said Section as monumented; thence N89°20'03"W along
said South Line, 439.04 feet to a corner of Lot 2 a Certified Survey Map recorded in Volume 31,
pages 270 thru 273; thence N89°21'42"W continuing along said South Line, as monumented,
439.82 feet to the NE Corner of a Certified Survey Map recorded in Volume 10, page 120;
thence S0°18'03"W 309.28 feet to the SE Corner of said Certified Survey Map; thence
S87°47'10"W 422.75 feet to the SW Corner of said Certified Survey Map; thence N0°12'45"E
along the West Line of the NW 1/4 of said Section, 1741.54 feet to the place of beginning.
The above-described property contains 40.03 acres.

SECTION II. After this annexation becomes effective, the above described property shall be
exempt from and not subject to further taxation and assessments in the Town of La Prairie and
thence forth shall be subject to taxation and assessment as part of the City of Janesville for any
and all purpose provided by law.
SECTION III. All the territory attached by this ordinance is hereby made part of Ward 29 of the
City of Janesville.
SECTION IV. There are no residents in the area proposed for annexation.
SECTION V. The annexation is within the School District of Janesville.
SECTION VI. This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon adoption by the Common
Council, the public health, welfare, peace, tranquility, good order, public benefit, and police
power so requiring.
