ORDINANCE NO. 2004-240
An ordinance annexing territory in Section 13 and Section 24, T.2N., R.12E. of the 4th
P.M., Town of Rock, Rock County, Wisconsin and Section 18 and Section 19, T.2N.,
R.13E. of the 4th P.M., Town of laPrairie, Rock County, Wisconsin.
WHEREAS, a petition signed by all the owners of real property within such territory
proposed to be annexed has been filed with the City Clerk; and
WHEREAS, there are no electors residing in the territory; and
WHEREAS, the necessary notices have been duly prepared, provided and served as
required by law to all persons affected; and
WHEREAS, this ordinance does not contain temporary zoning; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Administration has not found the proposed annexation to be
against the public interest; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council has determined that this annexation is in the public
interest.
NOW THEREFORE THE COMMON COUNCil OF THE CITY OF JANESVlllE DO
ORDAIN AS FOllOWS:
SECTION I. The territory described as follows is hereby annexed to the City of Janesville.
PART OF THE SE. %, PART OF THE NE. %, PART OF THE SW. % OF SECTION 13, PART
OF THE NE. % AND PART OF THE NW. % OF SECTION 24, ALL BEING IN T.2N., R.12E. OF
THE 4TH P.M., ROCK TOWNSHIP, ALSO PART OF THE SW. % OF SECTION 18 AND PART
OF THE NW. % OF SECTION 19, ALL BEING IN T.2N., R.13E. OF THE 4TH P.M., LA PRAIRIE
TOWNSHIP, ALL BEING IN ROCK COUNTY, WISCONSIN.
DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS: Commencing at an aluminum monument at the NE. corner of said
Section 24; thence S.0018'59"E. along the East line of the NE. % of said Section 24, a distance
of 400.21 feet to the place of beginning for the land to be herein described; thence
N.88°27'04"W. 3859.99 feet; thence N.0002'51 "W. 1704.64 feet to a point on the North line of
the SE. % of the SW. % of said Section 13; thence S.89°02'36"E. along said North line, 1291.03
feet to the NE. corner of said SE. % of said SW. % of said Section 13; thence N.OOOO'24"E.
along the North-South centerline of said Section 13, a distance of 1283.03 feet to the South line
of S.T.H. 351; thence S.88°41 '40"E. along said South line, 1757.16 feet to the West line of a
Certified Survey Map as recorded in Volume 8, pages 114 and 115; thence S.1°18'01"W. along
said West line, 217.05 feet to the SW. corner of said Certified Survey Map; thence
S.88°42'05"E. along the South line of said Certified Survey Map, 110.0 feet to the SE. corner of
said Certified Survey Map; thence N.1 °18'01 "E. along the East line of said Certified Survey
Map, 200.0 feet; thence S.88°41 '40"E. 70.0 feet to the NW. corner of Lot one of a Certified
Survey Map as recorded in Volume 8, pages 124 and 125; thence S.1°18'01"W. along the West

Section 19, a distance of 401.19 feet; thence N.88°27'04"W. 33.02 feet to the place of
beginning. Containing 229.56 acres
SECTION II. After this annexation becomes effective, the above described property shall
be exempt from and not subject to further taxation and assessments in the Town of Rock
and LaPrairie and thence forth shall be subject to taxation and assessment as part of the
City of Janesville for any and all purpose provided by law.
SECTION III. All the territory annexed by this ordinance is hereby made part of Ward 22 of
the City of Janesville.
SECTION IV. There are no residents in the area proposed for annexation.
SECTION V. The annexation area is within the Janesville School District.
SECTION VI. This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon adoption by the
Common Council, the public health, welfare, peace, tranquility, good order, public
benefit, and police power so requiring.
