2019-1645 Resolution No. 2019-1645 A resolution commemorating April 2019 as the ten year anniversary of the partnership between the Janesville Jets and the City of Janesville. WHEREAS, in 2009 a partnership began between the City of Janesville and the Junior A North American Hockey League team, the Janesville Jets; and WHEREAS, 2019 marks the sixth consecutive year the Janesville Jets have qualified for playoffs; and WHEREAS, the Janesville Jets carry out their mission through developing talented hockey players into admirable young men and eventually student athletes; serving and representing the Janesville community; and providing affordable, family-friendly entertainment to the residents of Janesville; and WHEREAS, the core values of the Janesville Jets are to be a team, have pride, work hard, have fun, show integrity, gain respect, create opportunities, and embrace the community; and WHEREAS, the Janesville Jets have consistently fulfilled their vision through volunteer work within the community with activities such as volunteering at the City-hosted Enchanted Forest event, visiting sick children at the Javon Bea Hospital, and teaching a Junior Achievement course at Monroe Elementary School; and WHEREAS, the Janesville Jets have raised money for numerous organizations including the 115th Fighter Wing, Housing 4 Our Vets, Mercy Cancer Center, and GIFTS Men's Shelter; and WHEREAS, the Janesville Jets have been and will continue to be an asset to the Janesville community; and WHEREAS, the City of Janesville is excited to continue this partnership for many years to come; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Janesville City Council on this 22nd day of April 2019, that in April 2019 the ten year anniversary commemorating the partnership between the Janesville Jets and the City of Janesville be celebrated.
