RESOLUTION NO. 2004-76
Whereas, the City of J anesville recognizes the threat that natural hazards pose to people
and property; and,
Whereas, undertaking hazard mitigation actions before disasters occur will reduce the
potential for harm to people and property and save taxpayer dollars; and,
Whereas, an adopted natural hazards mitigation plan is required as a condition of future
grant funding for mitigation projects; and,
Whereas, the Rock County Planning and Development Committee, in cooperation with
the Rock County Public Safety and Justice Committee have recommended this Plan; and,
Whereas, the City of Janesville participated jointly in the planning process with the other
local units of government within Rock County to prepare a Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan;
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved By The City Council of the City of Janesville that said
Council hereby adopts the Rock County Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan as an official plan; and
Be It Further Resolved, that Rock County Emergency Management Department will
submit on behalf of the participating municipalities the adopted Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan
to Wisconsin Emergency Management and Federal Emergency Management Agency officials
for final review and approval.
