2019-1634 RESOLUTION NO. 2019-1634
A resolution authorizing the City Manager to proceed with the conveyance of properties
located at 312 Linn Street and 159 Cherry Street to the Wisconsin Partnership for
Housing Development.
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville owns the following described parcels:
PALMER & SUTHERLANDS ADD. LOT 3 EX. S.2' LOT 3 BLK. 13 DAF: Pt SW1/4, Sec 36,
T3N, R12E, 4th PM, City of Janesville, Rock Co, WI JC6006850
DOE'S ADD. LOT 3 JC6006473
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville acquired the property located at 312 Linn Street in 2009 and
159 Cherry Street in 2010 through the Neighborhood Stabilization Program, with the intention of
demolishing the structures and donating the lots to not-for-profit organization(s) for
redevelopment purposes; and
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville has demolished the single family and garage structures that
were built on the sites; and
WHEREAS, on August 22, 2018, the Janesville Community Development Authority approved
the 2018 Annual Action plan to include two new construction projects using HOME funding for
the Wisconsin Partnership for Housing Development; and
WHEREAS, the properties located at 312 Linn Street and 159 Cherry Street are desirable
residential redevelopment sites; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Janesville to convey 312 Linn Street and 159
Cherry Street to the Wisconsin Partnership for Housing Development for construction of single-
family homes; and,
WHEREAS, the newly constructed homes will be sold to income eligible parties under the
HOME Investment Partnership Program guidelines: and,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL of the City of Janesville
that it hereby authorizes and directs the City Manager and the City Clerk to execute on behalf of
the City of Janesville, the conveyance of such properties; and to negotiate and execute such
documents, papers and forms as may from time to time be necessary and/or desirable to
effectuate such transactions and the intent of this resolution as the City Manager may decide;
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to take whatever
other actions or to make whatever other minor changes that may be necessary to effectuate
these land transactions.
