RESOLUTION NO. 2004-066
A Resolution Authorizing a Project Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation for the Installation of Traffic Signals at the Intersection of
East Milwaukee Street and Lexington Drive in the City of Janesville.
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Janesville recognizes the need to install traffic
signals at the intersection of East Milwaukee Street and Lexington Drive for increasing
vehicular traffic and to improve traffic safety; and
WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation has determined said traffic signal
installation is eligible for Federal Safety Funds; and
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville has scheduled the installation of traffic signals at said
intersection in 2005 at an estimated total cost of $95,000; and
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville's share of project costs are limited to 10% of the construction
costs, now estimated to be $9,500; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council finds that this public project and funding are in the best
interest of the City and benefit to the community.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Janesville, that
the City Council intends to borrow funds in the 2005 Note Issue for the City's share of said
traffic signal installation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of Janesville that the City
Manager be authorized to execute a Project Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation and take any other action as may be necessary to implement and complete the
traffic signal installation at the intersection of East Milwaukee Street and Lexington Drive; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager and his designee(s), on behalf of the City
of Janesville, is/are hereby authorized and empowered to negotiate, draft, modify, review,
execute and enter into additional agreements, payments and record, file and/or make minor
modifications and/or amendments to any and all documents, papers, forms and agreements, and
to take whatever other actions as the City Manager may determine, from time to time and at any
time, necessary and/or desirable to effectuate the intent of this Resolution and/or project.
