2018-1560 RESOLUTION NO. 2018 — 1560 Whereas, Susan Braden is retiring from City of Janesville employment after having diligently served the people of the City of Janesville and the community for over 19 years, retiring as a Reference Librarian at Hedberg Public Library; and Whereas, during Susan Braden's employment with the City of Janesville, she provided exemplary professional service and demonstrated conscientious devotion to the duties of her position, which she performed with skill and ability, sincerity, honesty, and dedication; and Whereas, Susan Braden began her employment with the City of Janesville at Hedberg Public Library on June 21, 1999; and Whereas, she managed the library's Janesville Room and connected reporters, writers, genealogists, historians, and the curious with hidden pockets of Janesville history; and Whereas, Susan Braden served as Vice Chair, then Chair of the Wisconsin Genealogy and Local History Round Table of the Wisconsin Library Association; and Whereas, she served on a statewide committee to create a Records Retention Schedule for Wisconsin Public Libraries; and Whereas, Susan Braden received the 2010 Wisconsin Library Association's Muriel Fuller Award and the 2010 Governor's Award for Archival Innovation for her work on the "GM/UAW: In Their Own Words" oral history project; and Whereas, she also received the City of Janesville's "Mighty Oak" award in June 2015 and multiple "I Make a Difference" awards for promoting teamwork, making work more efficient, maximizing customer access, and serving customers well; and Whereas, Susan Braden received multiple notes of appreciation from members of the public for her customer service, research assistance, and computer training; and Whereas, it is desired that such commendable service to the City of Janesville be properly recognized; Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved that the people of the City of Janesville, through the City Council, do express their grateful appreciation to Susan Braden for her more than eighteen years of loyal public service.
