2018-1504 RESOLUTION NO. 2018-1504
A resolution supporting the naming of pickleball courts as
'The Jim Clark Memorial Pickleball Courts'
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville was approached by the Janesville Pickleball Group on
the proposal to name the pickleball courts at Riverside Park "The Jim Clark Memorial
Pickleball Courts"; and
WHEREAS, according to Council Policy No. 94, after introduction, the proposal must be
reviewed by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee and not acted on for ninety
(90) days after introduction; and
WHEREAS, Jim Clark was a local educator and tennis coach; and
WHEREAS, Jim Clark wintered in Arizona where he began playing pickleball and is
credited as having brought the sport to the Janesville area; and
WHEREAS, the Janesville Pickleball Group fundraised to assist with the construction of
the pickleball courts.
NOW THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL of the City of
Janesville, that the Janesville City Council does hereby name the Riverside Park
pickleball courts, "The Jim Clark Memorial Pickleball Courts".
