2018-1480 RESOLUTION NO. 2018 — 1480
Whereas, Roger "Scott" Running is retiring from City of Janesville employment
after having diligently served the people of the City of Janesville and the community for
over 32 years; retiring as a Battalion Chief with the Janesville Fire Department; and
Whereas, during Roger Running's employment with the City of Janesville, he
provided exemplary professional service and demonstrated conscientious devotion to
the duties of his position, which he performed with skill and ability, sincerity, honesty,
and dedication; and
Whereas, Roger Running began his employment with the City of Janesville as a
seasonal employee with Public Works in the Streets Department in July 1985; and
Whereas, Roger Running worked in the Streets Department moving from a
seasonal employee to a Laborer 1 in January 1986, Laborer III in December 1986,
Storekeeper I in March 1989, and then was transferred and reclassified as a first year
firefighter/paramedic in the Fire Department on October 1, 1990, where he remained
until his retirement; and
Whereas, Roger Running was involved in a variety of assignments during his
tenure in the Fire Department, including Firefighter/Paramedic, Preceptor, Driver
Operator, Fire Lieutenant, Fire Captain, and Shift Commander/Battalion Chief; and
Whereas, Roger Running served nearly his entire career as a Member of the
Fire Department Dive Team, Hazardous Materials Team and Technical Rescue Team;
including ten years on the State of Wisconsin Technical Rescue Task Force Team; and
Whereas, Roger Running served for many years as a leader on the Fire
Department Health and Safety Committee advocating for improved firefighter safety and
health practices for department members; also serving on the EMS committee and
Rock County LEPC, and various City committees including; the City Health and Safety
Committee, Insurance Committee, TQM Committee and Employee Recognition
Committee; and
Whereas, Roger Running was the VFW Paramedic of the Year in 2011 and the
VFW Firefighter of the Year in 2015; and
Whereas, it is desired that such commendable service to the City of Janesville
be properly recognized;
Now, Therefore, Be It resolved that the people of the City of Janesville, through
the City Council, do express their grateful appreciation to Roger Scott Running for his
32 years of loyal public service.
