2017-1474 FILE RESOLUTION NO. 2017 — 1.474
Whereas, Laurel Fant is retiring from City of Janesville employment after having
diligently served the people of the City of Janesville and the community for more than
fourteen years; retiring as a Stacks Maintenance Technician at Hedberg Public Library;
and
Whereas, during Laurel Fant's employment with the City of Janesville, she
provided exemplary professional service and demonstrated conscientious devotion to
the duties of her position, which she performed with skill and ability, sincerity, honesty,
and dedication; and
Whereas, Laurel Fant began her employment at Hedberg Public Library on
March 24, 2003, as a Stacks Maintenance Technician; a position she held throughout
her tenure; and
Whereas, Laurel Fant was involved in a variety of positions and at one time was
splitting her responsibilities between the Stacks Maintenance Technician and as a
Circulation Assistant Substitute; and
Whereas, Laurel Fant trained library clerks and volunteer shelf readers; oversaw
and coordinated the volunteer shelf reader program; repaired and maintained the
condition of the collection; performed a continuous inventory of the entire 254,748 item
collection; worked to keep the materials in the local history collection accessible and in
good condition for the public; worked as an informal liaison between the local history
librarian and the Rock County Historical Society where she was also employed; shifted
the entire collection as needed to ensure a proper balance of materials on the shelves;
and was a pleasure to work with and proved to be an asset to the library_ She ensured
our level service to the public exceeded expectations; and
Whereas, it is desired that such commendable service to the City of Janesville
be properly recognized;
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved that the people of the City of Janesville,
through the City Council, do express their grateful appreciation to Laurel Fant for her
more than fourteen years of loyal public service.
