2017-703 Ordinance No. 2017-703 An Ordinance establishing Janesville Transit System fees, with penalties for violations thereof as set forth in JGO 10.76.030. THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JANESVILLE DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. Sections 10.76.020 A., C., E., J., K., N., 0., and Q., of the Code of General Ordinances of the City of Janesville are hereby amended to read, respectively, as follows: 10.76.020 Bus fares--Regular fare rates. The regular fare rates that shall be charged by the Janesville transit system are as follows: A. $.75 per ride or 10 rides for$7.50 when the 10 rides are purchased as a package of 10 prepaid tokens for senior citizens, defined as persons who are 65 years of age or older, Federal Medicare Card holders, and persons with disabilities when such individuals follow the procedures required by the Transit Director. When such procedures have not been followed,the charge shall be $1.50 per ride per passenger. C. $1.50 per ride, or 10 rides for$12.00 when the rides are purchased as a package of 10 pre-paid tokens for all other passengers. E. $0.75 per passenger for travel beyond the Janesville Fare Zone to the Blackhawk Technical College Fare Zone when transferring from an in-city route. $0.35 per passenger beyond the Janesville Fare Zone to the Blackhawk Technical College Fare Zone when transferring from an in-city route for senior citizens, defined as persons who are 65 years of age or older, Federal Medicare Card holders, and persons with disabilities when such individuals follow the procedures required by the Transit Director. $2.00 per passenger for travel beyond the Janesville Fare Zone to the Beloit Fare Zone when transferring from an in-city route. $1.00 per passenger for travel beyond the Janesville Fare Zone to the Beloit Fare Zone when transferring from an in-city route for senior citizens, defined as persons who are 65 years of age or older, Federal Medicare Card holders, and persons with disabilities when such individuals follow the procedures required by the Transit Director. $.50 per passenger for travel in any fare zone beyond the basic service area. The basic J. $3.00 per ride for Paratransit service for those disabled individuals qualifying for this service under the provisions of the Americans With Disabilities Act(ADA) and the procedures required by the Transit Director. This fare shall also apply to any person traveling as a companion, as defined by the ADA, with the disabled passenger. Personal Care Attendants as defined by the ADA, and certified as required to accompany the disabled person in question, will not be charged a fare as required by the ADA. • K. $.75 per ride based on a bulk purchase charge of$75.00 for 100 tokens, when tokens are purchased by a private non-profit agency for distribution to its clients; and the agency follows certain certification procedures established by the Transit Director as a condition of eligibility to purchase said tokens at a discount. When these procedures are not followed, the charge for token purchases shall be as outlined in Sub C, above. N. $.75 per ride based on a bulk purchase charge of$75.00 for 100 tokens,when tokens are purchased by the School District of Janesville for distribution or resale to its students; and the District follows certain certification procedures established by the Transit Director as a condition of eligibility to purchase said tokens at a discount. When these procedures are not followed, the charge for token purchases shall be as outlined in Sub C, above. 0. $120.00 per semester pass based on bulk purchase or consignment to the School District of Janesville for distribution or sale to its students; and the District follows certain certification procedures established by the Transit Director as a condition of eligibility to sell said passes. When the procedures are not followed, semester pass purchases or consignment shall discontinue. Q. $75.00 per summer pass based on bulk purchase or consignment to the School District of Janesville for distribution or sale to its students; and the District follows certain certification procedures established by the Transit Director as a condition of eligibility to sell said passes. When the procedures are not followed, summer pass purchases or consignment shall discontinue. Section III. The above fare rates shall take effect January 1, 2018 by the Common Council, the public good so requiring.
