2017-1462 RESOLUTION NO. 2017-1462
A resolution recognizing and supporting the efforts of Janesville Firefighters and Paramedics during
Fire Prevention Week, October 8-14, 2017
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all those living and
visiting Janesville; and
WHEREAS, fire is a serious public safety concern, and fire departments in the United States respond to a fire
an average of every 23 seconds, resulting in the loss of a civilian life every two hours and 40 minutes; and
WHEREAS, making a home fire escape plan with two ways out of every room and practicing that plan can
save lives; and
WHEREAS, City of Janesville Firefighters and Paramedics are dedicated to reducing the occurrence of fire
and fire injuries through prevention and public education; and
WHEREAS, the 2017 Fire Prevention Week theme, "Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out!" effectively
serves to remind us that we need to make home fire escape plans with two ways out of every room and
practice those plans.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL of the City of Janesville that October 8-
14, 2017 is to be observed as Fire Prevention Week; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL that all Janesville citizens are called upon to
