2017-692 ORDINANCE NO. 2017-692 An ordinance annexing territory in the part of the S 1/2 of Section 8, T.3N., R.13E., of the 4th P.M., Harmony Township, Rock County, Wisconsin. WHEREAS, a petition signed by the owner of the land within such territory proposed to be annexed has been filed with the City Clerk; and WHEREAS, there are two electors residing in the territory; and WHEREAS, the necessary notices have been duly prepared, provided and served as required by law to all persons affected; and WHEREAS, this ordinance does not contain temporary zoning; and WHEREAS, the Department of Administration has not found the proposed annexation to be against the public interest; and WHEREAS, the Common Council has determined that this annexation is in the public interest. NOW THEREFORE THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JANESVILLE DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The territory described as follows is hereby attached to the City of Janesville. Part of the S 1/2 of Section 8, T.3N., R.13E., of the 4th P.M., Harmony Township, Rock County, Wisconsin, described as follows: Beginning at the center line of the John Paul Road to Milton Junction, Wisconsin where the same intersects the half section line, running thence southwesterly along the center line of said highway a distance of 150.0 feet to the place of beginning for the parcel herein described; thence East and parallel to said half section line about 36.0 feet to an iron pipe monument on the Easterly line of said John Paul Road (said point being hereinafter referred to as "reference point"); running thence Southeasterly at right angles to said John Paul Road a distance of 336.0 feet; thence Northeasterly at an interior angle of 103°21' about 90.6 feet to point of intersection with a line drawn Southeasterly at right angles to said John Paul Road from a point on the Easterly line of John Paul Road 88.0 feet Northeasterly from "reference point" thence Northwesterly parallel with the Southerly line of the parcel herein described about 356.9 feet to a point on the Easterly line of said John Paul Road, which point is 88 feet Northeasterly along the Easterly line of said John Paul Road from "reference point" thence continuing Northwesterly along said line to the center line of John Paul Road; thence Southwesterly along said center line to the place of beginning. Exempting lands conveyed to the County of Rock in Warranty Deed recorded July 27, 1990 on Card 444, Image 813 as Document No. 1116555. Said Warranty Deed was re-recorded on February 4, 1991 on Card 465, Image 763 as Document No 1127013. Containing 0.69 acres more or less. SECTION II. After this annexation becomes effective, the above described property shall be exempt from and not subject to further taxation and assessments in the Town of Harmony and thence forth shall be subject to taxation and assessment as part of the City of Janesville for any and all purpose provided by law. SECTION III. All the territory attached by this ordinance is hereby made part of Ward 20 of the City of Janesville. ORDINANCE NO. 2017-692 PAGE 2 SECTION IV. There are three residents in the area proposed for annexation. SECTION V. The annexation is within the Milton School District. SECTION VI. This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon adoption by the Common Council, the public health, welfare, peace, tranquility, good order, public benefit, and police power so requiring.
