2017-1456 Resolution 2017 — 1456
A Resolution Temporarily Moving Ward 26 to the LDS Church for a Special
Election to be Held on November 7, 2017.
WHEREAS, the Milton School District has voted to have a special election on
November 7, 2017 to put a capital referendum to the voters; and
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville has five wards and uses two polling places for
electors residing in the Milton School District; and
WHEREAS, the governing body shall establish the location of polling places at least 30
days prior to the election, per §5.25(3) of the Wisconsin Statutes; and
WHEREAS, there is currently one registered voter in Ward 26; and
WHEREAS, providing open and accessible polling places to the voters is extremely
important, as is considering the prudent use of City tax dollars.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Janesville
does hereby combine polling places for the November 7, 2017 special election.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the regular two polling places for the Milton School
District will be reduced to one, with voters in Wards 19, 20, 21, 22, and 26 voting at the
LDS Church (3001 N. Wright Road), and all efforts possible will be made to inform the
voters of this temporary change if the election is necessary.
