A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF JANESVILLE
TO PETITION THE ROCK COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT
TO EXEMPT LIONS BEACH FROM THE REQUIREMENTS
SET FORTH IN COUNTY ORDINANCE CHAPTER XIII, SECTION 13.25
WHEREAS, the Janesville City Council decided to not provide lifeguards at Lions
Beach starting with the 2002 swimming season; and
WHEREAS, the Janesville City Council desires to continue to provide public
swimming at Lions Beach under a "swim at your own risk" policy; and
WHEREAS, the Rock County Board of Supervisors passed Resolution #04-3A-
186 which allows public agencies to petition the County for exemption from the Rock
County Beach Code; and
WHEREAS, it is the City's the best interest to provide public recreation to its
citizens with reasonable and appropriate levels of service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of
Janesville, that it hereby authorizes the City Manager and/or his designee to petition the
Rock County Health Department and request an exemption for Lions Beach to conform
with the Rock County Beach Code.
