2016-1376 RESOLUTION NO. 2016 — 1376
Whereas, Todd Harris is retiring from City of Janesville employment after having diligently
served the people of the City of Janesville and the community for more than seventeen years; retiring
as a Network Administrator with the Information Technology Office; and
Whereas, during Todd Harris' employment with the City of Janesville, he provided exemplary
professional service and demonstrated conscientious devotion to the duties of his position, which he
performed with skill and ability, sincerity, honesty, and dedication; and
Whereas, Todd Harris began his employment with the City of Janesville as an Information
Technology Specialist in the Finance Office in October of 1999; and
Whereas, Todd Harris was promoted to Network Administrator in June of 2000 and has held
that position until his retirement; and
Whereas, During Todd Harris' service, the City's IT infrastructure increased from one network
server performing four system services and using 60 gigabytes of storage to our current environment of
57 servers providing over 100 system services and managing 167,231 gigabytes of online storage. The
network grew from a few dozen 10 megabit nodes served by small hubs to a complex multi-campus
network served by a combination of fiber optic, leased lines and wireless trunks containing 22 routers,
60 network switches and 12 specialized network appliances. All of this accomplished with no increase
in network administrative personnel; and
Whereas, it is desired that such commendable service to the City of Janesville be properly
recognized;
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved that the people of the City of Janesville, through the City
Council, do express their grateful appreciation to Todd Harris for his more than seventeen years of loyal -
public service.
