2016-1365 CITY OF JANESVILLE
RESOLUTION NO. 2016 -1365
A Resolution authorizing a supplemental budget appropriation for Central Fire Station #1.
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Janesville adopted the 2016 General Fund budget
totaling $45,192,750; and,
WHEREAS, funding of $8,000,000 for site location, prep and construction of a new central fire station
(Fire Station #1) has come from borrowing with another $3,692.52 from premiums associated with
that debt issuance; and,
WHEREAS, total costs related to the project are $8,991,247.54; and,
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Janesville has supported the Administrative plan from
project inception that final funding would be provided from undesignated General Fund balance; and,
WHEREAS, maintaining an effective fire and EMS program is essential to the health and safety of
citizens within the City of Janesville; and
WHEREAS, Common Council Policy 58, Part 7 authorizes the Common Council of the City of
Janesville to provide a supplemental budget appropriation in response to, but not exclusively, new
capital items.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Common Council of the City of Janesville find that it is in
the best interest of the City of Janesville to provide for and authorize a budget adjustment to fund the
balance of the Fire Station #1 project; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Janesville that they hereby
authorize a supplemental budget appropriation from the General Fund Undesignated Balance to be
made in an amount not to exceed Nine hundred ninety thousand dollars and 00/100 Dollars
($990,000.00) to pay for the cost of such capital expenditures.
