RESOLUTION NO. 2004-39
A Resolution Authorizing a Project Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation for Traffic Signal Improvements to the Intersection of Court Street
and Main Street in the Ci~ of Janesville
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Janesville reco~,mizes the need to
upgrade traffic signals at the intersection of Court Street and Main Street for increasing
vehicular traffic and to improve traffic safety; and
WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation has determined said traffic
signal upgrade is eligible for Federal Safety Funds; and
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville has scheduled the upgrade of traffic signals at said
intersection in 2004 at an estimated total cost of $22,000; and
WHEREAS, the City of Janesville's share of project costs are limited to 10% of the
construction costs, now estimated to be $2,200; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council finds that this public project and funding are in the
best interest of the City and benefit to the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of
Janesville, that the City Council intends to fund the City's share of said traffic signal
upgrade from unexpended funds designated in the 2001 Note Issue for signalization of
the Holiday Drive and Liberty Avenue intersection.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of Janesville that
the City Manager be authorized to execute a Project Agreement with the Wisconsin
Department of Transportation and take any other action as may be necessary to
implement and complete the traffic signal upgrade at the intersection of Court Street and
Main Street; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager and his designee(s), on behalf of
the City of Janesville, is/are hereby authorized and empowered to negotiate, draft,
modify, review, execute, and enter into additional agreements, payments, and record, file
and/or make minor modifications and/or amendments to any and all documents, papers,
forms and agreements, and to take whatever other actions as the City Manager may
determine, from time to time and at any time, necessary and/or desirable to effectuate the
intent of this Resolution and/or project.
